Christmas Tournament

Twelve pairs entered the Plymouth Badminton League’s Christmas Tournament, played once again at the Devonport High School for Boys Sports Hall.  The pairs were entered into three groups of four to give everyone three ends of badminton.  The Group Winners and the highest Runner-Up entered the ‘Main’ Event’s knockout stage whilst all other pairs entered the ‘Plate’ Event knockout stage.

Winners of Group A were Julian Cooper of Callington playing with Heather Cooper of B.A.T.S. Winners of group B were Alan Berry and Rachael Williams of B.A.T.S. and the winners of Group C were Jonathon Freeman and Abi Maunder from B.A.T.S. The highest runner-up was Andy and Jo Jackson of Builders.

The Final was won by Alan Berry and Rachael Williams playing off +4 beating Julian and Heather Cooper playing off -9 14-21 21-11 21-20.

The final of the Plate Event was won by Andy Crocker and Hollie Bennett of Mayflower Wednesday playing off +2 beating Y.M.C.A. Kitto’s  Yong Ping Chen and Linda Harris playing off -3 21-16 21-19.
