In the Semi-Final of the Plymouth Badminton League’s Beckly Cup competition Torpoint’s fine home run finally came to an end at the hands of visitors Tavistock.

Torpoint from Division Three had put out two Division Two sides in previous rounds but eventually met their match at the third attempt. Torpoint put up a good fight scoring well, even taking three ends off their senior opponents but with a handicap of +81, asking them to score 16½ aces per end fell short by just two points per end and lose the match by 30 aces. |
In the second Semi-Final, Builders played well to put the skids under Greenbank. The League Champions were asked to keep Builders to six points per end but failed from the word go. With a handicap of +270 Builders won the match by 59 aces.
Tavistock will now be at home to Builders in the Final, which will be played at the Torpoint Council Chambers on Friday the 29th February commencing at 7pm.

Ladies have secured the first Title of the season by way of beating Devonshire
12-0 at Whiteford Road and Torpoint by
the same score at Torpoint. It was
reported that both matches were good, friendly, competitive games.
Another match saw Devonshire draw 6-6
at home to University.
In the Men’s Division B, University have completed their fixtures for the season. In the final run in University beat Victoria B and BATS 10-2 at D.H.S.B. and came up against it at Whiteford Road losing 7-5 to Victoria but finished with a flourish at Devonshire B winning 11-1 to set a final total of 66 points which only Devonshire A can equal.
In the Men’s Division C, Y.M.C.A. Kitto C fought out a good 7-5 win at University C whilst Mayflower Wednesday enjoyed an 11-1 win at Torpoint.
Ivybridge continued their revival this season with a 7-2 win at Greenbank B. Paul Haley was involved with both of Greenbank’s wins. Ivybridge followed this victory with a 6-3 win at University.
It is still Y.M.C.A. Kitto or Devonshire for the Division Two title. Devonshire gained some ground on the leaders, beating B.A.T.S. 9-0 at home and Derriford 7-2 at the Leisure Centre. Tavistock are finishing the season on a high following their Beckly Final date, they beat Mayflower Wednesday 8-1 at Horrabridge where only Andy Crocker and Tom Hawker could save the whitewash beating Colin Tattersall and Dave Wood 21-18 21-17 in the third Men’s event. Tavistock followed this win beating B.A.T.S. 6-3.
Builders lead in Division Three has been pegged back after losing 6-3 at home to Callington B, this win will strengthen Callington’s challenge for the Title.
Callington’s C Team have found two late successes beating B.A.T.S. B 6-3 at Bere Alston and Torpoint 8-1 at the Community College.
