Thirteen pairs entered this year’s Christmas Handicapped Mixed Doubles Tournament held at Devonport High School for Boys and run by the Plymouth Badminton League.
| The usual format saw a group of five and two groups of four play a ‘Round Robin’ section with the winners and runners-up going through to the Main Event Knock-out section and all the remainder through to the Plate Event. | ![]() |
The winners of Group One were Ryan Lambourne and Waine Parker of Y.M.C.A. Kitto, the runners-up being fellow club-mates James Travis and Emma Scott. The winners of Group Two were Andy Jackson and Josie Debnam of Builders D.M.L., the runners-up being Martin Potter and Melanie Francis of Y.M.C.A. Kitto. The Group Three Winners were Gareth Pearse and Christine Shannon of Greenbank, the runners-up being Rob Loader and Philippa Williams of Y.M.C.A. Kitto.

We saw some cracking badminton in both the Main and Plate Events and the winners of the Main Event were Martin Potter and Melanie Francis who beat Gareth Pearse and Christine Shannon 15-14 15-13. The winners of the Plate Event were Julian Cooper and Heather Cooper who beat Gary Johnson and Margaret Adams 15-7 15-6. |
