Leading 4-2 going into the mixed doubles you would have thought Salisbury/Armada could have closed out this Div. 2 match at Mayflower Wednesday. However, Armada were becalmed as Mayflower cruised by to take all three mixed doubles, and record a narrow 5-4 victory.
The match was decided in the third mixed, which was watched by an appreciative audience. The youthful exuberance of Wednesday's Marc Clewer and Abigail Ellis was pitched against the experience, and superb touch play of Mark Cruttenden and Lesley Mainwaring. The 15-5 15-5 scoreline to Marc and Abigail belied what was a very closely fought contest. Both pairs deserving of the generous round of applause at the end.
