MINUTES OF THE A.G.M. HELD AT CHARLES WITH ST. MATTHIAS CHURCH ON 18th SEPTEMBER 2002

TREASURER’S REPORT
Accepted.

PRESS AND FIXTURES SECRETARY

Gordon presented his report for the season for the League and Tournaments. Notification had been received that the following teams would not be represented in the forthcoming season: West Tamar, Ivybridge Congregational, Derriford ‘B’ and Plymstock. New teams to be entered are YMCA Kitto ‘C’ and University ‘B’.

The tournaments had all run smoothly, and there was a report on the Junior Tournament from Margaret Luscombe.

Thanks were expressed to all those involved in helping all the tournaments to run smoothly. The Beckly Cup Handicap Committee were thanked. Thanks were expressed to Sandra Chenery for her continued efforts and success in forwarding press reports. The league tables are now regularly updated on the website. Any club photographs or items which may be considered of interest should be forwarded to Sandra.

JUNIOR LEAGUE SECRETARY’S REPORT

A report from the Junior League Secretary was presented.

MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE PROPOSAL

The following amendment to Rule 4.1 should be included "Match date may be changed with the agreement of both Team Secretaries and after negotiation with the Officers of the Management Committee, i.e. Chairman, Press and Fixtures Secretary and Secretary". The wording was changed to "A league match may be re-arranged provided your opponent can agree on a suitable date, and with permission from the League Fixtures Secretary" and the proposal was accepted.

  9. Beckly Handicap Committee – Margaret Adams, Peter Barry, Adrian Bunsell.

ELECTION OF PRESIDENT

Brian Dyer was re-elected for the next three years, and was thanked for his contribution to the League over the past year.

ANY OTHER BUSINESS

  1. As a result of new conditions being imposed by the Civil Service Sports Club, the Committee had taken the decision to end the event at 11.00 p.m. Only the first prize in the raffle will be announced with the remaining prizes drawn and distributed throughout the evening.
  2. The current insurance policy which had been taken out by the League many years ago, is no longer necessary as all clubs are covered by the B A of E and the policy will therefore not be renewed.
  3. South Hams Club stated that they are unable to return to the premises at Ivybridge next season, and requested that permission be given for them to play their matches at Kingsbridge Leisure Centre, which is actually outside the Plymouth League area. It was agreed that consent be given for this request.
  4. It was suggested that the League investigate the formation of a Men’s League.
  5. Ron Craig reminded all clubs that affiliation fees to the B A of E should be forwarded directly to Margaret Force and not to him as in previous years.
